April and Cody’s Engagement Session
April and her family are close family friends of mine. As much as I would’ve loved to shoot April’s wedding, she’s already got a photographer on the boat. Oh yea, she’s getting married on a boat, how cool is that? I’ll probably bring my camera to the wedding anyways because I don’t think I know how to attend events without shooting anymore, haha. But April’s mom asked me to shoot their engagement photos and there’s no way I would turn that down. I love shooting engagement sessions. They’re so fun, plus I get to experiment. You don’t get to experiment so much in weddings, although still equally fun.
I decided to shoot their engagement session at downtown Laguna. I love the fact that a beautiful beach is just across the street. I ended up shooting the first half downtown and the second half at the beach. I was expecting a warm sunset but it was really cold. April and Cody were such great sports. They did a great job at looking like they weren’t half frozen, haha. Anyways, they looked great together and I wish them the best. Here’s some of my favorites from the shoot.

Dear Oliver -
I am Cody’s mother. When April called me to tell me they had engagement photos taken and she was sending them to me I was excited. I had no idea how “fun” and relaxed they would be. This is a complete reflection of how Cody and April are when they are together. Since his father and I reside in Texas, we will be able to treasure these casual photos of the two of them just as much as the formal wedding photos. Thank you for such a wonderful job. Your subject matter was perfect (of course) but the settings mark the location of the beginning of their life together in such a way that it makes us happy to see how he’s starting his life since we cannot be with him in CA. I look forward to meeting you at their wedding!
