Baby Mason: Newborn

Let me introduce you guys to the newest addition to the Reiss family, Baby Mason. You might remember this cute family from the maternity shoot we did earlier this month. Baby Mason let me try out a couple new ideas and even gave me an awesome family shot. See if you can spot my favorite :)

Regine and James: Engagement Session 2

So considering what we went through on our first attempt, we decided to ease into this shoot by warming up next to a fake ocean scene painted on a shipping container, haha. After we built up some confidence we went closer and closer to the water. The cool part about Mission Beach was I could see the waves coming a mile away. No surprise tsunamis here. It had been ages since I’ve been to Belmont Park and it has since then become uber busy. That in and the somewhat overcast beach were probably the only things I wish were different that day. Regine and James did awesome and seemed a lot more comfortable this time around. Go figure. And although I didn’t have my trusty 5DMKII with me on this shoot, my backup 40D did a respectable job. I included the pictures from the first shoot in this gallery as well just in case you guys didn’t feel like going back and forth. Enjoy!

Regine and James: Engagement Session 1

This was one of the most bittersweet engagement sessions I’ve ever shot. The following story explains why there’s going to be a part 2 of this session. We started shooting this engagement at the beach. But when a rogue wave engulfed everything including my camera, we had to regroup. After a quick stop at the store to pick up towels and dry up, my camera seemed to be working. Regine and James had luckily packed another outfit and were such troopers that they were ready to try again. This time we decided to go somewhere with a bit less moisture. After setting the scene, I started shooting away. But it wasn’t long before the camera started to fail. First the shutter button started to stick. Next thing you know the the LCD stopped working. The camera seemed to still be taking photos so I just kept shooting blind hoping something was coming out. We shot for about 5 minutes until the camera completely shutdown. We checked the card when we got home and were pleasantly surprised. These images were the last thing my camera saw. Good work 5DMKII, thanks for giving it everything you had till the very end. We’ve taken some fantastic photos :)

Baby Jordyn: Newborn

I love doing a maternity session and then having the opportunity to photograph the newborn afterwards. You might remember Tabatha and Daniel from the shoot at the Citrus Park Let me introduce you to the newest addition to their family, Baby Jordyn. Congratulations guys. She’s beautiful.

Let and Micah: Portraits

UPDATE 06.06.11: This shoot was published on the On to Baby blog the same day Baby Mason was born. Congrats Let and Aaron! Can’t wait to meet you baby Mason!

Kiddo and maternity portraits on the side of a busy street?  I’m down :)   These two did an awesome job.  Shout out to the wifey for helping out on the bum ankle.  Shoots always turn out great when you come along.  Congrats to Let and Aaron on their bun in the oven.  We can’t wait to meet Mason.  Enjoy the photos.

Pearson Family: Portraits at The Lab

It’s always a good time shooting with the Pearson family. For this shoot we decided to try our luck at The Lab in Costa Mesa. Fun place to shoot, I think Dominic liked it. Not as easy to coax a smile out of Lea these days but she can’t help but be cute. Anybody catch Junie’s Louboutin’s…you fancy huh. :)

Tabatha and Daniel: Maternity

What a fun shoot! These guys were hilarious. I feel like we were laughing the whole time. They’re going to be awesome parents. Shout out to the wifey for helping me follow through with all the ideas in my head. And thanks to Tabatha and Daniel for being so easy to work with. I can’t wait to meet Jordyn. Whatever happens, I just hope she has Daniel’s feet (inside joke, I’m not creepy I swear).

James and Rebecca’s Wedding

I had a great time shooting James and Rebecca’s wedding.  I’ve never shot at the Old Orange County Courthouse before and I really like how the photos turned out.  I loved the classic, vintage feel of the place.  James and Rebecca were great to work with and I wish them all the best in their future.  Thanks again for letting me shoot your special day.

Erica and Jason’s Engagement

My buddies Erica and Jason are getting married this June.  Congrats guys!  After some arm twisting I got them to agree to let me shoot their engagement photos as a wedding present.  Good choice, I would’ve bought you guys the gravy boat :)   Anyways, Erica and Jason have been together for a while.  And even though they joke around about it, it’s obvious from these photos that they’re still very much in love.  I can’t wait for the wedding. Congrats again guys.

Pearson Family: Easter Portraits

So I’ve always poked fun at shooting with a live bunny for Easter portraits and this year it actually happened.  Thank you Wickwire family for finding a bunny for me :)   Thank you Christina and David for letting borrow the bunny.  And thank you Pearson family for going along with it all, haha.  What was the most important thing I learned during this shoot you ask?  Rabbit’s poop a lot.  Bunny talk aside, the Pearson family did great on this shoot.  We might not have filled our smile quota with Lea, but she’s cute regardless.  Not to mention, Dominic seemed to have a blast with the bunny.  So all things considered, I think we did alright on this shoot.  Happy Easter guys!
